Matanda Mwewa

Matanda Mwewa is a leading figure in Zambia’s Solar energy sector, currently serving as the Senior Business Development Manager at Huawei Digital Power and the President of the Solar Industry Association of Zambia (SIAZ). In these roles, he is actively shaping the growth of clean energy solutions, with a strong focus on solar and battery storage systems, digital innovation, and policy advocacy.
At Huawei, Matanda is responsible for driving regional strategy, expanding market presence, and delivering advanced energy solutions that support utility-scale, commercial, and residential applications across Zambia and the Southern African region.
As President of SIAZ, he leads national efforts to strengthen industry coordination, influence Solar energy policy, and promote skills development and private sector participation. His leadership has helped position SIAZ as a key stakeholder in Zambia’s energy transition.
Matanda is passionate about unlocking opportunities in rural electrification and productive use, and continues to advocate for inclusive, sustainable energy access. He believes in empowering the next generation of African energy leaders.
