Helen Zulu

Helen Zulu is a strategic business leader and renewable energy executive with over 15 years of experience spanning the clean energy sector in Zambia, Banking, Manufacturing industry and Tax administration. Currently serving as Country Director for ENGIE Energy Access Zambia, Helen spearheads strategy execution for both Solar Home Systems and Mini-Grids, overseeing a diverse team of over 1,000 employees and agents.

Her career is marked by driving innovative energy financing solutions, optimizing credit risk frameworks, and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships with the government, financiers, and development partners to accelerate energy access.
Prior to ENGIE, Helen held leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank, Lafarge Zambia and the Zambia Revenue Authority, where she demonstrated a track record of success in building high performing team, credit risk management, portfolio optimization, operational excellence, tax revenue reporting and monitoring.

An advocate for sustainable development and climate finance, Helen holds an MBA from Copperbelt University, is a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants and has Advanced Certifications in Microfinance and Corporate Governance from the Frankfurt School of Finance.
She is also an active board member in the engineering and financial services sectors, championing strong governance and financial stewardship. Helen’s passion lies in unlocking diverse solutions to address energy poverty in Zambia, while building high-performing, purpose-driven teams. She is committed to developing and operationalizing energy strategies that ensure both energy security and cost efficiency for all classes of clients nationwide — ultimately contributing to broader energy access and sustainability across the continent.
